Saddling up to find a tree for friends

Dylan and I took the horses to the back of the property to get a little tree for our friends.
where we found the tree the snow was up to my knees.
Spice and Buck had no problem walking through it but I can't imagine it would have been easy for us.
When we found the tree Spice dragged it big too - so much easier!

Getting comfy

Off we go. It was so nice! Dylan LOVED it especially because he could ride Buck with no lead lines.

In real life the sky was much pinker!
and you can see the amount of snow we have!
LOTS!

Yay Ornament Swappin'

Couldn't believe it when I went to the mail box a couple days ago and here was a parcel from Micaela my ornament swap partner!
 HOLY Cow that was fast!

Thank you so Much Miceala!
The ornaments are beautiful and as you can see they made it in one piece. The kids love Rudolph I know he will have a special place on our tree. And the Pine cones will be hung high out of reach!
Thank you again and have a wonderful Christmas!

Alright WHO Ordered this?

Wow thats chilly - came to work in my snowsuit!
The Timmys Tea was WAY bigger this morning!

Our House. Notice the Radio above the display is still warming up!

5 Kilometers away!

First Snow 2013

The first snow of the season came on November 2 - it had snowed all night and the next morning I left for work on my summer tires and drove very carefully to work in a winter wonderland.
Thankfully Ed brought my winters in later that morning and I changed them for the drive home - felt much better driving on them than the summers!
Taylers snow angel

I don't think Spice and Buck are too impressed

Tiger braving the snow

I was very happy it came after Halloween, the last few years have been very chilly for trick or treating but this year it was quite mild. We had a miner and a cowgirl this year. Dylan decided he was to old for trick or treating, so he reluctantly walked house to house with us. He tried to stay home but we wouldn't let him - good thing too as we were way later than we thought. The fire department put on another great fireworks show for the community. Ed is a volunteer firefighter so he was out in the field helping set up the fireworks. We thought it was pretty cool that Dad was out there.  We also got to see him for the first time in his turnout gear!

Thanksgiving 2013

More house improvements
Eds parents came and stayed with us over Thanksgiving and helped Ed get more things done on the house.
They sided all three dormers - they look so amazing!
We poured concrete in the basement to cover the last dirt floor in the house.
And he finished flat decking his truck - a project he said took WAAAAY too long! But it looks great, better than the ratty old box - I'm sure little pieces fell off it every time he drove somewhere.

Siding in the beautiful weather!
Don't they look wonderful!

Spice- making sure Dylan is using the palm sander properly - it was so noisy too
We were all invited to the neighbours for Thanksgiving dinner, it was soooooooooo good and filling. After dinner the kids and I went out to the bonfire - they were doing tricks with nails - how do you balance 8 - 2 nails on the head of one?
Heres your answer:

The talent!

Saturday Morning - Nov 23

Holy where does the time go!!!
Over a month since any posts from DRT Springs - WHAT!!
Here are a few posts to let you know what is going on up here!

This morning I am bundled up (at least three layers) and staying warm beside a cup of tea
I love the sleigh picture on the cups now!

Oh, so hard to get out of a nice toasty bed to rush off to work - especially with the temperature outside!

Taylers new Baby

Here is Buck - our newest addition to DRT Springs.
Hes a little old man - 28 years old - just needing a loving home and companion horse for company.
Tayler loves him to bits any time she can she brushes him, and we have started working with him on halter - Buck lets Tayler catch him without too much trouble, but with me he keeps just out of reach for quite awhile before he gives up and lets me put the halter on.
Yesterday Tayler rode him bareback for the first time, he was so good, he listening to her the whole time, while I led him around.
We have had a few troubles with him that we didn't have with Spice. He does not like to be confined to a corral, so far he has broken both of the corral gates, and pushed over a fence. Dylan has rebuilt one of the two gates the other needs a long pole to fix it, but I think in the process I will pound some posts in the ground too.
But despite his quirks we still love him.

More Summer fun!

This summer the kids all went down to the coast to hang out.
Tayler stayed one night with GG and then off Matt and Leannes to spend time with Hayley and Jessie.
The boys headed to Pender Island to go sailing with Marg and Ted. They all had such a great time! Boys had so many stories of sailing and exploring Russell and Portland Islands, but the high light was drifting through a pod of Orcas on their way home, how cool is that!
Grandpa and the boys

Exploring beaches

I think this is an Orca fin

Tayler had such a great time too, apparently her and Jessie were inseparable the entire time. They went to a ceramics place in Victoria and painted animals - Taylers just arrived in the mail from Auntie. But mostly just hung out and had fun together  - none of them wanted to come home - can you blame them!
I think this will become a tradition every year! Wink wink nudge nudge!

We had a huge dinner with Tayler and Maurrens Grouse Fricassee and green salad, seafood pasta from the neighbour up the campsite, steak from us, Corn on the cob and coleslaw from Doug and Marg, it was sooooo yummy and we were able to have dinner outside JUST before the rain started.

Monday morning we headed out for hunting and sightseeing. Not much game but beautiful scenery!
