Outdoor Skating with Friends

After school last Monday I picked up Tay and Russ and our friends Sierra, Cora and River, we headed over to the Rink in Forest Grove (2 minutes from the school) and had a crazy game of hockey! After we got bored of hockey we played tag and socky (kicking the puck around with our skates!) I am NOT good at this, I fall kicking at the puck! I am the cheering section!

It has become a Standing Monday afternoon outing!
We will see what happens this coming week though because the temperatures have warmed up to above zero in the day - not sure how the ice will be on Monday - we'll see!
Happy Weekend!!!

Pasta making

Homemade pasta is sooo yummy! Ed gave me a pasta maker for Christmas, so Tay and I have been making lots of pasta for lunches and dinners.
Tayler has it mastered and the other night as I made sauce she made all the pasta.

Russels Green House

Russell is so excited about his green house. Dylan did help out when power tools were required. But Russ made up the plans and started the wheels turning!
Russ already has his plants out there and is planning for more!

And yes I woke up to snow this morning but it is the Cariboo! It was change in the next few hours!

January snow!

The start of this year was an eventful one!
We have had the mildest winter - we weren't sure if we would have snow for Christmas, mild temperatures too, for December this is unheard of.
But January came in with full force. It started to snow January 3th, it was so nice, made beautiful pictures. Sunday, WOW its still snowing the depth building up quickly.  By Monday morning and 12 inches or more, of snow later, we were thinking Oh no! So Ed started to plow the driveway, he got halfway up and we had to dig out our friends van as he didn't make it out the night before, so up we go with tractor, chains and shovels. We get it backed down to our place so Ed can finish clearing the top of the driveway. But when he came back in he said - you might as well get comfortable you won't make out by the road, the snow is too deep.
For the first time in 5 years we were snowed in! We will have to wait for the grater to come to plow the road. We made the best of it and hung out around the fire to enjoy a stolen day.
Tuesday morning we woke up to freezing rain making the sound of tink, tink, tink on everything it hit. This lasted for 4 hours, then we had regular rain - how weird is that for January! Now there is a good 1/2 inch layer of ice on top of the snow everywhere, makes walking almost impossible!
Shayleigh walks on top for a while then disappears into the snow when the ice breaks.
The kids enjoyed three extra days off, for their winter vacation, but by Thursday I couldn't wait to drop them off at school!

Fletcher Lake

Hunting and fishing out at Fletcher lake in the Chilcotin. All three boys had a ball - The fishing was great! Russ was the fisherman - he catch at least three everytime he went out. Dylan was not to be bested by his brother and catch just as many. Tay and I caught one - it was quite a feat for the two of us. In the morning all the guys went out for some Grouse hunting - they did so well we had a huge feast before coming home again!
Such a great time lots of visiting!
